Sorry things have been a little quiet

I’ve been a little quiet on the blogging front the last couple of weeks, so sorry about that. (Yes, I AM talking to myself.) Anyway, the Workplace launch and news about it has been kinda dominant in the Domino blogosphere lately, and unfortunately, I don’t really have the time to check it out and play with it like I should. Since I didn’t have much of anything to say on the matter, I decided to stay quiet. I AM really looking forward to the day that Workplace can do Notes apps natively. I imagine that the next Lotusphere will be pretty intense…

As for other things, the job search is heating up a bit. I’m getting quite a few bites if I want to do some contract work. The unfortunate thing is that it’s four weeks here, two months there, and many of the opportunities are in areas that are a fairly big distance to drive. It’s nice to know that if I want to do contract stuff it’s there, but I’m kinda holding out for a decent full-time gig. If it doesn’t happen in the next couple of months though, I guess contracting is where I’ll be 🙂 I have had a couple of really good first interviews for some full-time gigs with companies I like, so hopefully I’ll hear something on those soon.

Lastly, those of you that hit the actual web page of the blog instead of the RSS feed have seen the picture on the moblog, but I just finished up building a deck on the back of our house. My father-in-law and I did a bunch of the intitial framing work, and then got help this last weekend from my brother-in-law, my wife’s uncle and my wife’s cousin. The result turned out great, but I realize WHY I work on computers and I don’t do construction or heavy labor. I’m sore in muscles I didn’t even know I had. I also have enough bruises on my arm to be confused with an addict. I truly, TRULY, belong behind a keyboard rather than a hammer.
