Flash MX 2004 seems to be half-baked

When I’m not doing Domino tech and the like, you can generally find me in Macromedia products.  I love Dreamweaver and Flash, and was excited when Macromedia released their latest MX 2004 versions.  I’ve been playing with Dreamweaver a lot and I love it, but I haven’t had a chance to play with Flash yet.  Well, now I’m kind of glad I haven’t.

Basically, you can find a bitch session here.  It’s at Mike Chambers blog.  He’s a guy in charge of a lot of the Flash stuff going on, and it’s a good read.  Hopefully they will patch it up and everyone will be happy.

I’m curious, how many of you use Macromedia stuff.  It’s definitely nice to have some different stuff other than Lotus to rely on once in awhile!

Update:  I just got my PC Magazine, and they seem to love the Macromedia Studio MX 2004 suite, giving it a 5 out of 5 rating.  No mention of all the difficulties people seem to be having in Flash.  Oh well, I agree that the suite rocks, I just hope they get the nagging glitches fixed.

Of wars and detours

Wow, over two weeks this time. I’m either really lazy, or I do have a life. I’m sure it’s a little of both. Well, last time I posted, I wrote about the ongoing Iraqi war. Well, we took Baghdad last week, to smiling waving inhabitants that worked hard to pull down and destroy a statue of Saddam Hussein. It was pretty amazing. It was a pretty stark contrast to what the anti-war protesters would have you believe. Now don’t get me wrong, I know that not everyone in Iraq loves what’s going on there, but there is sure a lot of Iraqi people that seem to be happy. Go Figure.

Well, ‘Operation New Man’ has kinda taken a little detour on the exercise front. Hell I’ve barely had time to post here, much less go to the gym. I think I’ll be cancelling my membership at the end of the month because $64 a month is just too much to pay to not go. Now that summer’s coming (it’s in the high 80’s today) I can get my exercise by cutting the lawn and creating a play area in the yard for Kali. 🙂 Oh well.

Another thing on the health front is changing away from Lopid to Niaspan for my tri-glyceride reducing drug of choice. The Lopid was leveling out, and we needed to get more aggressive, so Niapan it is. Also started Singulair for my asthma. Trying it out as a preventative to see if it helps with my breathing over the long term. One of the two has the side-effect of jitteryness and heat flashes. Great, the fat guy needs to sweat and shake a lot. Oh well, I’ll be around longer for my kids (and hyper about it.)

On the software front, been working with Contribute from Macromedia a lot. Cool software. It’s really going to help me out in the web site development department at work. I love Macromedia. Almost as much as I love Lotus Notes. I may have to do Link pages to both on the site just so everyone else can join in the fun!

Time time time keeps on ticking

Time. Wow, how poignant was my last post? I haven’t touched the Pronto or MOO3 and here it is over two weeks later, and no blog postings. I humbly apologize. In a way I’m apologizing to myself as I’m the only one that reads this right now, but that’s okay. I need to take more time to get my thoughts on the proverbial digital paper.

Sometimes not having enough time can be a good thing, and lately work has been that way. I’ve been so busy that the days really fly by quickly. I do like that, but I’m still kind of in a creative lull. I think that will change because I’m starting work on a brand new North American intranet for my work. I’ll be really delving into the Macromedia side of things. Dreamweaver, Flash, Cold Fusion and the like. It’ll give me a lot more experience with those tools and it should be fun as well. I do have to say I’m looking forward to it.

On the home front, poor Kali has been sick with some stomach flu-like illness. It’s really sad when a young one is sick. It’s hard to calm their fears when they don’t know what is going on with their body. Someday she’ll be able to speak fluently. Hopefully that will be sooner rather than later. 🙂

On the music side of things, expect big things from Evanescence. Lead singer Amy Lee is amazing, and the rest of the hard rock/goth sound meshes well. Definitely my favorite album right now. I wish them nothing but HUGE success.

Now, I just need to find time to do more than listen to music…
