When it rains shit flows downhill…
Hmmm… that doesn’t seem like the right colloquialism. 🙂 Basically it’s been another one of those days. This morning the line running from the house to the septic tank decided to clog. This unfortunately backed up water (among other things) into my house. Along with the help of my father-in-law we were able to break the plug open, and snake the line out to the septic tank pit. Needless to say it was a shitty job *grin*
Also, before we realized the problem was outside, we had to cut some of the interior pipes. As such, we had to replace and re-route a couple of the interior pipes once everything else was snaked. Fortunately, with the help of my father-in-law we were able to do it for much less than a plumber would charge. Thank goodness for that. It’s really weird how bad things all seem to happen at once. Wonder why I’m paying the karma police now?

Oh MAN! That sucks! I was incredibly lucky a short time ago when we had a drain pipe from one of the toilets – the pipe running down inside a wall from the 2nd floor to the ground floor of the house – and the pipe with a leak (actually a quarter-sized HOLE in it). I was incredibly busy with work stuff, and my incredible wife went to a pawn shop, bought a Saws-All, cut into the sheetrock, sliced the bad part of drain pipe away, fixed the pipe, patched the sheetrock …fixed the WHOLE thing. I missed out on all of the ugliness! You were at least lucky (groping for the positive here) in that you were home when things backed up. I’ve heard of folks having their house flood with sewer backup while they were GONE. Hey, at least you got a good story out of it!

Well crap, literally. Tonight around 9PM I noticed the gurgling again and it looks like we still have a problem, although at this point I have NO idea what it is… grrrr…
We have a pit for the downstairs, and that pit kicks the water out through an ejector. The water goes up some pipe, then down to the pipe going outside. Well it keeps backing up, and the ejector keeps kicking it back. Keeps going back and forth like this, so it looks like the blockage has returned, or something really wierd is going on…
Ejector’s off for now… need to look into this again tomorrow.

best of luck with that grey… what a drag!
when i was in boulder there were lots of buddhists around. they called these times (when everything keeps taking wrong turns) “the dunes”. i think as in, it is hard to walk over them, or something. but they do pass eventually…
here’s some more jedi goodness! sounds like you could use a little extra.
