Ephedra comes back

Well yesterday a federal judge overturned the FDA’s ban on ephedra. I’m actually kinda glad, because if you recall I wasn’t fond of the ban in the first place. Basically I believe that if you use the product like you are supposed to, it can have a lot of benefits. Especially for someone with asthma like myself. I used ephedrine through college quite a bit to help with breathing difficulties, but I also admit that I used it to stay up studying as well. But through it all, I never took four times the recommended dosage like some of the folks who died.

If you take anything that is supposed to speed you up and you take 2, 3, or 4 times as much as you’re supposed to, you are going to have adverse effects. And out of the people that died, MANY had abused the drug. Unfortunately, the drug abused them back.

It’s the whole personal responsibility thing for me. I believe that an adult should be able to do whatever they want to their own bodies, but they then have to deal with the consequences. I think the government is too concerned with protecting us from ourselves, and freedom just goes out the window at that point.
