Blogga Please!
The last month or so has been a huge pain in my ass. You see, my work laptop starting having a lot of issues. It would lock up, or reboot unexpectedly, or just plain crash. This cut WAY into my blogging time.
Not because I blog at work mind you, but rather I do a lot of my blogging on my train ride to and from work. Since my laptop was having so many issues, I stopped carting it back and forth. Thus, my time on the train reverted mainly to sleeping, reading magazines, or listening to music.
As opposed to just rebuilding the beast, I decided to try an upgrade to Vista RC1. Since I didn’t know if my issues were OS or hardware related, I didn’t want to completely rebuild the OS from scratch as I have WAY too much to install to invest that much time. So I figured a Vista upgrade might clean some things out and make it more stable.
It did, kinda. But the fact that it was still a release candidate caused some issues, and eventually it returned to its hanging, locking up ways. Now, I had been lobbying for a MacBook Pro for quite some time, so the powers that be thought my issues could be somewhat, shall we say, imaginary in order to get a new computer. Finally after a third reboot in a day the Friday after Thanksgiving, I went to my boss and said I needed a new machine, and it didn’t have to be an Apple. This was good, because I was informed that I wouldn’t get an Apple anyway. [sigh]
Anyway, I am happy that I am now on a new Thinkpad T60. I have always loved Thinkpads, and this is a nice box, but the fact that for the exact same price I could have gotten a slightly faster MacBook Pro with a better video card and a built-in iSight isn’t lost on me.
Anyway, I’ve got a lot to catch up on, so brace yourselves. 🙂
