New Notes/Domino 8 features?!?!
Today I got an email from the Lotusphere team asking me for my session preferences like they do every year. One big thing is that they are taking the top vote getters for the BOF’s and giving THEM the sessions… Very Cool. Anyway, while looking through which 10 BOF’s I was going to select, I came upon this:
Meet the Notes Domino 8 Infrastructure Development Team: Side Shelf¸ Feed Reader¸ and Search
This was the first I’ve heard of Side Shelf and Feed Reader. It’ll be way cool that Notes/Domino gets it’s own Feed Reader (especially with the RSS support recently built into 7.0.2) but I wonder what Side Shelf is? Is it where the composite applications will reside? Let me know your conspiracy theories or inside info!!!

The side shelf = sidebar on the right side of the screen, where you typically have seen the buddy list for Sametime or list of Activities. Just a name for a UI widget.
We haven’t been very explicit about the built-in RSS reader in the Notes 8 client, but it’s definitely a client feature.

Cool. Figured as much, and having a feed reader built into the client is going to be a very welcome addition and will really bring RSS to the masses. Nice. Thanks for the update…
