Get the whole story before you crucify him…
Before you just take for granted that Terrell Owens is a complete douchebag, please read this interview transcript. EVERY story I’ve seen makes this out to be MUCH worse than it really is in my opinion. Most of the controversial comments that people (and articles) are focusing on are responses to questions that he was asked. If you read the WHOLE transcript, you’ll see that this wasn’t that bad. Was he completely right, no. Was he the devil everyone makes him out to be, no way.

Are you generating your technorati tag links manually? Or have you got code in blogsphere that is doing it for you?

Just doing it manually at this point, although I would like to add that functionality at some point… I might roll my own and submit it up the chain

It still amazes me that there are guys with that much talent and still can’t stay out of trouble with their mouths. Or, like we have at UConn now. Two star point guards who got caught stealing laptops. One of them has a chance at the NBA if he can stay clean.

Sorry, but I’m not putting away my nails. Sure, reading the interview, it doesn’t come across as bad as it’s been made out to be. If some receiver who was RESPECTED had given this interview, let’s say Marvin Harrison, would it have caused such a stir? No. Marvin Harrision has a reputation that he can lean on. Terrel Owens is a selfish jerkoff. We can and will judge his comments in the light of the man and teamate TO has made himself out to be. In public or in private, everything that we do is seen throught the filter of who people think we ARE. TO is no different. Sure, it wasn’t that bad of an interview, but TO has set himself up so that his behavior as a teamate has to be beyond reproach. TO has brought this kind of scrutiny on himself. There’s no way the Eagles would have suspended a player for these statement if they were the only thing the player had done.
That being said, I have exactly zero sympathy for the Eagles. TO was an asshat all his career. Any team that signs him (or Randy Moss) gets what they deserve. Remember, that TO was so petty that he had to call Jeff Garcia “gay” in an interview to get back at him. It has all the class of two 11 year old boys on a playgroud:
“Yer gay dude! Haw haw!”
No team should sign TO next year. He should end up playing in Calgary for $1200 a week. This won’t happen of course, because some dumbass team will sign him, and they’ll get what they deserve also.

Tim, I agree, he has been an asshole, but I think that because of that reputation, people bait him in interviews, and people report on the parts that will get a reaction.
So this interview really wasn’t all that bad taken as a whole. If you pull out those statements individually though, they do sound horrible. It’s just that most people won’t realize that he was responding to other people who framed the question.
That being said, the Eagles SHOULD have known what they were getting, and they should have signed him knowing that this is what they would get. if they didn’t, they were complete idiots.
And no matter what he’s done, you cannot argue that he doesn’t play the position harder and better than pretty much every other WR in the league. He leaves it all on the field.
I’ve always been one of those guys that can tolerate the talk IF you can back it up, and he has and does consistently. For him to have the injury he had, and to come back in such a short time, and to be SO productive in the Super Bowl was nothing short of amazing.
And think of it, he was on great behavior on the Eagles until the SuperBowl last year. I think he basically thought “I put my career on the line for this? For McNabb to choke?” And it went downhill from there…
Oh well, we’ll see what happens, but he will play somewhere else unless its his choice not to…
