Did I speak too soon? No DB2 in initial ND7 Release?
According to Volker, DB2 as a back end for Notes databases will NOT be available upon the initial release of 7.0. And in the comments, Ed doesn’t really refute them, but says he will comment on his blog. Just when I blog about hoping that IBM will not become more like MS, they go pulling a feature out of an initial release. [sigh] Sometimes I hate being right. Wonder what will happen with “Noteshorn?”

what part of “not finalized” didn’t make sense to you?
You’ll be able to run Domino on DB2 at the time of Domino 7’s release. That isn’t changing. So, hang on while I get through some IBM processes and we’ll have the story straight and in public.

Oh I understand “not finalized” alright. But your response to Volker was very soft (which is very unlike you), leading me to believe his story. Also, the fact that there is some “IBM process” that you have to go through at this point to dispute Volker’s claims is a little disconcerting.
BUT, you’ve answered here definitively, in bold nonetheless, so I’ll consider that gospel at this point.
The underlying theme of this whole thing is that I applaud you for announcing something out there, but if you are gonna announce, please make sure you deliver when the time comes. That goes for Hannover more than anything. The news that DB2 was going to slip was something that caused those fears to surface.
WSE was not ready for primetime and I’m pretty sure most people that have played with it agree. Hopefully 2.5 fixes that.
I was just noticing what appeared to be a trend, but, if you said it ain’t so, it ain’t so. I’ll trust you… for now.
