IBM announces "Noteshorn"

I’d just like to say that I really like that IBM/Lotus is finally playing Microsoft’s game. Announce something amazing that’s a year and a half out, make sure it’s sexy and keeps people talking. Give it a cool name like “Hannover.”

It really is about time that IBM fought fire with fire, and that’s exactly what they are doing. Do I believe they’ll be any better at it than MS? Don’t know. I just hope that they don’t cause people to wait on ND7 since the performance gains alone will be worth it.

That could be the only downside. People may just wait for the sexy new UI than roll with tired ND7. I know I won’t be, but I hope others won’t wait as well. That’s what maintenance is for 🙂

Lastly, let’s hope IBM doesn’t pull the same shit as MS and start promising features that they cannot ship on time, or pull those features out of Noteshorn completely. Garnet anyone?
