Firefox is indeed gaining ground
Well, after looking at Rocky’s stats and such on Firefox usage, I was inspired to post my numbers from last month too. I had been meaning to blog about it, but just forgot until Rocky sparked my light bulb.
In the month of January, Firefox on it’s own, outstripped IE usage on this site. Here are the stats:
Browser Usage – Jan 2005
Firefox – 38 %
IE – 34.8 %
Mozilla 8.8 %
Safari – 1.7 %
Granted, I have a higher percentage of pure geeks hitting this site, but I think the numbers are still pretty telling. Firefox finally has the legs it needs.
Also, I always used to design web pages for the 800 x 600 resolution lowest common denominator. I think I’ll be upping that to 1024 x 768 soon based on these results of people hitting this site:
User Screen Resolution – Jan 2005
1024 x 768 – 58.3 %
1280 x 1024 – 20.5 %
1400 x 1050 – 5.7 %
1600 x 1200 – 4.2 %
800 x 600 – 3.5 %
How about you guys? What are you seeing in the stats of folks hitting your sites?

hehe, well i’ve been stalking you, so i’d say a good 34% of your 38% was me.

I have NO idea about the browsers of my visitors…
And my screen resolution on my laptop is 1024×768, but it’s too small for me now. Er, or not small enough, depending on how you look at it. My laptop wasn’t SXGA (or something like that) so that’s the highest it will go. I think it’s time for a new laptop. I need at least 1280 x 1024.
I LOVE firefox so much… and I’ve really only been using it since I got back from Lotusphere. But… how do I tell Lotus Notes to use it as the default browser? It still opens up mail file web links in IE.

FYI, I told Jess how to get Firefox working in IE. Also, I’m thrilled, I have a STALKER!!! How cute!
