As you can tell if you’ve read this blog for any amount of time, I’m a digital photo enthusiast. I haven’t shot on film for nearly six years now, and I’ve never looked back. Digital Photography allows you to take as many pictures as you want to get the best one, it also allows you to share those photos by uploading them to online photo sites like Club Photo. But how do you share with the people in your family who don’t have computers?

This was a question I had about two years ago. My daughter was born and I wanted a way to let my parents (who live over four hours away) see pictures of her all the time. I had tried to give them a computer at one point, but they refused the gift, stating that it was too high tech for them and they would never use it. So at that point I did some research and came up with Ceiva.

Ceiva is a digital picture frame. The twist is that it connects to a phone line, and dials out to the internet every night to download pictures. I have access to a website where I control what pictures show up on their device. I can upload them and the next morning, they show up on my parents frame. Mom and Dad LOVE the service, and all they had to do was plug it in and connect a phone line, I was able to do the rest remotely.

This week Ceiva released their newest frame that allows you to do things more easily, holds more pictures and allows my parents to order prints at the touch of a button. I would recommend this as a gift to anyone. It allows my parents the ability to see their granddaughter grow up every time I upload photos. There is a modest monthly fee, but it’s worth it to me. Remember this for the technophobe grandparents on your list. I guarantee they will love it.
