Guild Wars is live

Today is the official launch of the Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) Guild Wars. I’ve been playing it off and on in beta since about the middle of last year, and this game is awesome. Now normally I’m not one for MMORPG’s, because usually they come with a monthly fee of about $15 attached. Guild Wars has put an end to that. NO MONTHLY FEE.

Aside from that, the gameplay is fun, the graphics are amazing, and they do this style of game in a pretty unique way. You can go PVP (player vs. player) if you want in tournaments and guild battles, but if you are wandering the wilderness, the area you are in is rendered just for you and your party. Basically, to use our coder lingo, each area is instantiated for the party in question. Because of this, you don’t have to worry about other people stealing your stuff, attacking you, or looting your corpse if you happen to die on the battlefield. All of the common areas (cities, villages etc.) are fully intereactive with anyone else playing however, so you can still meet up and talk with people, sell and trade items, and join guilds.

This will probably be an addiction for a long time to come… Add Greyhawk Sixtyeight to your buddy list!
